ENCI – Eerste Nederlandse Cement Industrie

FAA - Federal Aviation Administration : Airport Technology R & D Branch, Advisory Circulars

The information on the site is arranged under topic headings including Advanced Pavement Design; Airport Planning Technology; Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Technology; Airport Wildlife Hazard Abatement; National Airport Pavement Test Facility; Nondestructive Pavement Testing; Recyclable Paving Materials; Runway Surface Technology; and Visual Guidance and Runway Incursion Reduction. Under each heading there is information on research projects and supporting resources. FGSV - Die Forschungsgesellschaft für Straßen- und Verkehrswesen

Die Forschungsgesellschaft für Straßen- und Verkehrswesen (FGSV) ist ein gemeinnütziger technisch-wissenschaftlicher Verein. Sie wurde 1924 gegründet. LCPC- Laboratoire Central des Ponts et Chaussées

LCPC was set up in 1851 as the Laboratoire des Ponts et Chaussées and became autonomous in 1949. It is today a State research organization working for the State and the local authorities in connection with professionals involved in civil engineering, transport, urban engineering and environment.

 

LTP – Long Term Pavement Performance (U.S.DOT&FHWA)

Understanding "why" some pavements perform better than others is key to building and maintaining a cost-effective highway system. That's why in 1987, the Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) program - a comprehensive 20-year study of in-service pavements - began a series of rigorous long-term field experiments monitoring more than 2,400 asphalt and portland cement concrete pavement test sections across the U.S. and Canada.

ACN
COMFAA 2.0
COMFAA is a computer program for computing flexible and rigid ACNs and pavement thickness. Flexible thickness design is based on the CBR method, and rigid pavement design is based on a calculated maximum edge stress as explained in AC 150/5320-6D. COMFAA contains details of many aircraft. COMFAA can be downloaded from the FAA site at http://www.faa.gov/airports/engineering/design_software/.

ICAO ACN-data
ICAO has published ACN-data of aircraft in their Aerodrome Design Manual. Part 3, Pavement, Second Edition 1983. The data are assembled in an Excel file, which can be downloaded from this site.

Transport Canada ACN
A second ACN-program is ICAO-ACN of the Aerodrome Safety Branch, Technical Engineering Division, Transport Canada. The ICAO Fortran source code has been rewritten an recompiled into two (2) executable programs. ACNF.exe computes flexible pavement ACN and ACNR.exe computes rigid pavements ACNs. The software can be requested by visiting the ‘Pavement Technical Documentation’ web page of Transport Canada.

For pavement engineering a number of Advosory Circulars are available. FAA’s Advisory Circular 150/5370-11B, “Use of Non destructive Testing Devices in the Evaluation of Airport Pavements (12-29-04)” provides guidance on non destructive testing equipment to evaluate the load-carrying capacity of airport pavements.

The FHWA new topic-based web site is the one stop destination for information on everything from pavement design and construction to maintenance and rehabilitation. FWD Users Mailing List

The FWD Users Mailing List was started in 1996 with the aim of exchanging information by e-mail regarding falling weight deflection measuring equipment (Falling Weight Deflectometers) and the use of such in the determination of the bearing surface of a pavement. In this way the expertise and information available around the world is utilized.

 

FWD User's Group (FWDUG USA)

In an effort to “share information and experiences in the practical aspects of Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) testing and data analysis,” Bob Briggs had a vision of getting FWD users together. While an employee of the Texas Department of Transportation Bob, along with Erland Lukanen (Luke), and Lynne Irwin used the ASTM and TRB meetings as a forum to get things going. This “vision” became a reality in 1992 in Maplewood, Minnesota and is now known as the FWD Users Group. All owners, operators, users, and manufacturers are invited to exchange ideas.

 

IJP - International Journal of Pavements

IJP - International Journal of Pavements encompasses the following subject areas: accelerated pavement testing; modern practices to design, maintain, and rehabilitate asphalt and concrete pavements; low volume roads; new stabilization and paving technologies; nondestructive evaluation; material testing and characterization; life-cycle analysis and pavement management; and innovative applications of advanced computer modeling and remote sensing technologies.
